Echoes Ecology has an experienced team of qualified tree climbers (certified in NPTC Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue) who carry out aerial inspections of trees for roosting bats. Once a tree has been subject to a Preliminary Roost Assessment (PRA) from the ground and elevated potential roost features are identified, climbers wearing harnesses use ropes to access the features. Two tree climbers are present when conducting these surveys; one of the climbers acts as the grounds person so as to ensure the safety of both the climber and any passing people. By ensuring at least one of the climbers is also a NatureScot licensed bat worker, if a roost is found we can immediately gather the information that would be an essential requirement for a European Protected Species (EPS) Licence.
We can also undertake aerial inspections for nesting birds and squirrels.
A LOLER inspection of our tree climbing equipment is carried out every six months.
